STMicroelectronics. Y-IC is a quality distributor for STMicroelectronics. We provide genuine products, fast support, and reliable service to help you deliver the best results.
Single-core ARM Cortex-A7 MPU up to 800 MHz with an integrated ARM Cortex-M4 co-processor up to 209 MHz. Designed for heterogeneous processing (Linux on A7, real-time control on M4), with rich connectivity (CAN, Ethernet, USB, SPI, UART, I2C, SD/MMC), display control (LCD, HDMI-CEC), graphics acceleration, and secure operation (ARM TrustZone). Supports external DDR3/DDR3L/LPDDR2/LPDDR3 memory. Industrial-grade junction temperature range -20°C to +105°C. Package is 361-ball TFBGA, 12 x 12 mm, supplied in tray. RoHS3 compliant.
Core processor: ARM Cortex-A7 up to 800 MHz
Co-processor: ARM Cortex-M4 up to 209 MHz
1 core, 32-bit A7 architecture with dedicated 32-bit M4 for real-time tasks
Memory controllers: DDR3, DDR3L, LPDDR2, LPDDR3
Graphics acceleration: hardware acceleration supported
Display and interface: LCD controller, HDMI-CEC
Ethernet: 10/100 Mbps and Gigabit Ethernet support
USB: up to 3x USB 2.0 with PHY, including OTG (plus 2x USB 2.0 host)
Additional interfaces: CAN, Ethernet MAC, I2C, MMC/SD/SDIO, SPDIF, SPI, UART, USB
Security: ARM TrustZone (TZ)
I/O voltages: 2.5 V and 3.3 V
Mounting: surface mount
RoHS: ROHS3 compliant
Series: STM32MP1
Heterogeneous compute: Run Linux on A7 while the M4 handles time-critical control
Rich connectivity: Broad set of industrial and consumer interfaces in one device
Scalable platform: Compatible family options (single/dual A7, GPU, different packages)
Strong ecosystem: ST’s OpenSTLinux and STM32 tools shorten development time
Industrial-grade reliability: Wide junction temperature range (-20°C to +105°C)
Display and graphics ready: LCD + HDMI-CEC with hardware acceleration for smooth UI
Flexible memory: Supports mainstream DDR and LPDDR types
Secure foundation: TrustZone helps isolate trusted code and sensitive assets
Type: TFBGA (Thin Fine-Pitch Ball Grid Array)
Ball count: 361 balls in a fine-pitch grid
Size: 12 mm x 12 mm body
Material: Epoxy-molded plastic over organic substrate; lead-free SAC solder balls
Mounting: Surface mount, reflow soldering
Pin configuration: 361-ball array; see datasheet ball map for exact signal assignments
Thermal characteristics: Junction temperature -20°C to +105°C (TJ). Thermal resistance depends on PCB layout and heatsinking; refer to datasheet for guidelines.
Electrical properties: I/O at 2.5 V and 3.3 V; external DDR supply per memory type; consult datasheet for full power rails and limits.
Shipment packaging: Tray (for assembly line handling)
Status: Active and widely used in production designs. Not nearing discontinuation based on current ST roadmap visibility.
Family equivalents (same STM32MP1 family; feature, speed, or package may differ—check pinout and compatibility):
- STM32MP151 variants (single A7 + M4) in different packages/speed grades
- STM32MP153 variants (dual A7 + M4) for more CPU throughput
- STM32MP157 variants (A7 + M4 + GPU) for advanced graphics
Cross-vendor functional alternatives (not pin-compatible; evaluate per requirements):
- NXP i.MX7D / i.MX6ULL (low-power, Linux-capable MPUs)
- TI AM335x / AM437x (Sitara family with rich industrial I/O)
- Microchip SAMA5D2 series (efficient ARM Cortex-A5 solutions)
