Qualcomm releases processor Snapdragon 855Plus

Qualcomm today officially announced the launch of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855Plus mobile platform, an upgrade to the Snapdragon 855, designed to deliver enhanced performance and support for multi-gigabit 5G, gaming, AI and XR experiences.

Commercial terminals equipped with the Snapdragon 855Plus are expected to be available in the second half of 2019.

The Snapdragon 855Plus integrates the Snapdragon X24 LTE 4G modem supporting multi-gigabit connections and implements 5G connectivity through the use of the Snapdragon X505G modem and the QualcommTechnologies RF front-end solution.

Compared with the Snapdragon 855, the enhanced performance of the Snapdragon 855Plus includes: QualcommKryo485CPU's super core clocked at 2.96GHz, QualcommAdreno640GPU achieved 15% performance improvement.

The Snapdragon 855Plus integrates many of QualcommTechnologies' latest technologies and features in gaming, Al and XR:

Game: Snapdragon 855Plus can support higher performance and gaming experience. With a complete set of hardware and software features optimized for gaming, Snapdragon EliteGaming is designed to provide users with a competitive advantage, such as support for Vulkan 1.1 graphics drivers, which has a 20% improvement in energy efficiency compared to OpenGLES. In addition, Snapdragon EliteGaming supports software enhancements such as system-level game-cart optimization, game fast load optimization, and game anti-cheat extensions.

AI: The fourth-generation multi-core Qualcomm artificial intelligence engine AIEngine delivers a fast-responding gaming experience that supports more than 7 trillion operations per second (7TOPs) and can be combined with proprietary programmable AI acceleration.

XR: By connecting the XR headphone to a mobile terminal equipped with the Snapdragon 855Plus and the Snapdragon X505G modem, users can easily enjoy the immersive XR experience (AR/VR experience) and get a fast, ultra-smooth 5G experience.
