Quectel Launches Ultra-Compact FGM842D Wi-Fi + BLE Module for Smart Home and Industrial IoT

Quectel has officially introduced the FGM842D series, an ultra-compact Wi-Fi 4 & BLE 5.2 dual-mode communication module. With its outstanding performance, compact design, and robust security features, the module provides an efficient connectivity solution for smart home and industrial IoT applications.

Operating in the 2.4GHz band, the FGM842D series integrates a high-performance ARM968 processor with a clock speed of up to 160MHz, 288KB RAM, and 2MB Flash, ensuring stable and efficient operation. It supports UART and GPIO interfaces by default and can be expanded to SPI, I2C, ADC, and PWM through the QuecOpen® platform, catering to diverse peripheral needs. Multiple low-power modes and a persistent connection mechanism extend device battery life, making it ideal for smart and industrial applications.

Security is a key focus, with support for WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK, and WPA3-SAE encryption standards. The module features a true random number generator (TRNG), AES-128 hardware encryption, secure firmware, and Flash encryption to ensure reliable data protection.

Designed for compact integration, the FGM842D series uses an LGA package, optimizing PCB space and offering flexibility in hardware design. It is available in two versions: the standard FGM842D (12.5×13.2×1.8 mm) with RF coaxial or pin antenna options, and the FGM842D-P (16.6×13.2×1.8 mm) with an integrated PCB antenna, ideal for space-constrained embedded systems. With an extended operating temperature range of -40°C to +105°C, the module remains stable in harsh industrial conditions.

Now in mass production, the FGM842D series is supported by development kits, technical documentation, and comprehensive customer support to accelerate product development.
