The United States wants to upgrade Huawei's chip restrictions? TSMC: Does Not Answer Hypothetical Questions

Yesterday evening, foreign media reports were quoted as saying that people familiar with the matter pointed out that senior officials of the United States Government Cabinet agreed to take new measures to restrict global supply of chips to Huawei because the White House further blamed China on the new coronavirus.

Recent rumors have continued that the United States plans to expand restrictions on Huawei shipments. The Wall Street Journal reported in February that the U.S. Department of Commerce is drafting a proposal to amend the "Foreign Direct Product Regulations", which will require chip factories worldwide to use US equipment. Licensing can make chips for Huawei.

There are also rumors that the US move is mainly to restrict TSMC's supply to Huawei. Today (27), according to a Taiwan Media News report, TSMC said such rumors: There are no further restrictions in the United States, and it does not answer hypothetical questions or comment on specific customers.
