Nikkei: Apple asks Luxeon Precision to double monthly AirPods Pro production

According to a Nikkei news report, the source revealed that Apple has asked Lixun Precision to double its AirPods Pro headset production to 2 million units per month. Apple also asked Lixun Precision and GoerTek to increase production of low-cost AirPods at their factories in Vietnam.

A person familiar with the matter said that due to strong demand, Apple has increased its monthly order for AirPods Pro from 1 million to at least 2 million. Sources added that Pro headsets are manufactured by Luxshare Precision in two factories in mainland China.

TWS headphones are Apple's fastest growing product line. Nikkei believes that Apple's request for Luxun Precision and GoerTek to increase production will hurt other suppliers, such as Foxconn, Quanta and Inventec.

In manufacturing high-end products, China's technology manufacturing industry has caught up with global competitors. According to an analysis by the Nikkei, by 2018, 41 of Apple's top 200 suppliers will come from China, surpassing the United States and Japan.

Jeff Pu, senior technology analyst at GF Securities, said: "In the future, TWS headset sales are likely to reach the level of the iPhone, about 200 million units per year." He estimates that Apple will sell 80 million units in 2020. Wireless Headphones. Bloomberg reported last week that AirPods shipments could double this year to 60 million units, thanks in part to the popularity of AirPods Pro.

Apple, Lixun Precision and GoerTek did not respond to requests for comment.
