Meng Pu, Chairman of Qualcomm China: Cooperating with Huawei in the chip field

Today (8), Meng Pu, chairman of Qualcomm China, expressed his views on the relationship between Huawei and Huawei in the 10th Caixin Summit in 2019.

When it comes to competition in the chip field, Meng Pu said: "The word often used in this industry is a competitive relationship. We and Huawei are competing."

Meng Pu said that globalization has turned competitive relations into a competitive relationship, especially in the chip field. He mentioned that Qualcomm and Huawei are competing relationships. Huawei is also developing chips for mobile phones. Although Huawei's chips are provided for their own mobile applications, Qualcomm is offered to others, but after all, everyone is doing the same thing. So there is a competitive relationship. In addition, Huawei is also one of Qualcomm's largest partners in China. Qualcomm provides Huawei with chips that complement other product lines.

Meng Pu said that such a competitive relationship will continue for a long time. As long as there is competition, everyone will invest more resources and promote industrial progress.

It is reported that Qualcomm has been committed to the research and development of 5G chips. Qualcomm launched the first 5G modem chip X50 in 2016, aiming to provide commercial terminals for the first operators to launch 5G networks in the world. The current second-generation X55 and third-generation 7-series SOC-integrated chips are working closely with terminal manufacturers.

Huawei is also the case. Recently, Huawei officially released its 990 chip, which consists of a standard version and a 5G version. According to the official, this is the industry's first integrated 5G baseband processor.
