Intel: 5G, AI and edge computing complement each other, empowering smart applications

At the beginning of this month, the three major operators officially released 5G packages, marking the official opening of 5G commercial use in the consumer sector. The commercialization of 5G has also accelerated the arrival of the data age.

Previously, Intel Chief Architect Raja Koduri pointed out that in the past five years, modern computing applied to artificial intelligence has grown by more than a million times. This growth rate has never been seen before in the past, and the computing power has increased. It can be said that it is endless.

In order to seize the wave of 5G development, Intel has made efforts in several dimensions: First, to promote cloud network convergence from cloud-to-end 5G solutions. First, work together with a wide range of partners to accelerate application innovation.

"Intel is providing leading products for 5G infrastructure and edge, and deep cooperation with the industry to bring 5G innovative applications. Let us work together to realize the full potential of 5G." Intel Data Center Business Unit Vice President and Network and Customization Rajesh Gadiyar, chief technology officer of the Logic Division, pointed out.

With the advent of the 5G commercial era, business needs and technological innovations have placed higher demands on the convergence of 5G cloud networks. How to better meet the needs of application scenarios, realize the unified depth of collaboration between cloud and network, realize platformization, ecologicalization and intelligent data, which has become an urgent problem to be solved.

Intel believes that the innovation of cloud network technology is inseparable from the principle of “openness, integration and intelligence”.

In the cloud-to-end 5G solution to promote cloud network convergence, Intel and Japan Lotte have created the world's first end-to-end virtualization cloud native network. This cloud-native network was announced by Lotte Japan in February this year, which will fully virtualize from the wireless access network to the core network, and will adopt an innovative 5G system architecture at the time of release. This cloud-native network is built on Intel® Xeon® scalable processors and accelerated with Intel® FPGAs, an end-to-end cloud native automation network that will enable Lotte to rapidly scale mobile services on an agile software-defined network.

5G is not only about faster personal devices and networks, but also a huge revolution across the cloud, the network, and the edge. With its deep accumulation in communications and computing, Intel has built a comprehensive cloud-to-end portfolio. For the cloud and the network, we offer a broad portfolio of products with a strong and scalable platform to meet different workload demands. FPGAs, storage, security solutions, and optimization software from Intel are also critical to ensuring cloud-to-end compatibility, interoperability, and optimization for higher speeds and lower latency.

In the advancement of 5G, business applications have become a key factor driving the successful commercialization of 5G.

5G applications are not limited to personal devices. Application innovation in the vertical field requires ecosystem partners to explore and explore together. Therefore, the cooperation of the industrial chain is extremely important. “5G will be the future innovation platform for vertical industry. 5G, AI and edge computing will complement each other and jointly empower innovative applications such as smart education, smart industry, smart city, smart retail, smart venue, car networking, etc. Intel technology through soft The hardware and platform are embedded in the 5G-AI-edge computing value chain, and the industry partners have promoted 5G-AI-edge computing into reality through numerous cases.” Lin Yiyan, vice president of Intel Data Center Business Unit and general manager of network innovation business unit, pointed out .

In addition, Intel is also working with partners such as China Mobile, Foxconn and Tencent to explore applications in smart manufacturing, live broadcast and ultra high definition video.

China, as the world leader and promoter of 5G commercialization, is making a full-scale impact. In order to seize the development opportunities of 5G, Intel and China's 5G industry ecological partners have been working closely together.
