GSMA announced that it will cancel the 2020 MWC Shanghai
The Mobile World Congress (MWC2020) originally scheduled to be held in Barcelona, Spain from February 24 to 27 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 epidemic. According to the latest news, the 2020 MWC Shanghai has also been cancelled due to the impact of the epidemic.
Today, the GSMA issued a statement saying that based on the Chinese government ’s recently announced notice about the suspension of large-scale gatherings and exhibitions, as well as concerns about the global COVID-19 epidemic, travel restrictions and other related circumstances, the GSMA will cancel the 2020 MWC Shanghai.

GSMA Statement on 2020 MWC Shanghai
April 17, 2020: Based on the notice recently announced by the Chinese government regarding the suspension of large-scale gatherings and exhibitions, as well as concerns about the global COVID-19 epidemic, travel restrictions and other related conditions, the GSMA will cancel the 2020 MWC Shanghai. Health and safety are our most important considerations. In this regard, GSMA has maintained close communication with relevant departments and agencies, and consulted health agencies. GSMA will consider holding regional conferences and events in the second half of 2020, and will communicate and coordinate with the relevant government and health departments at appropriate times and venues. We will determine the feasibility of the new arrangement later.
Since the first World Mobile Congress was held in China, GSMA has successfully provided a communication platform for global industries, governments, ministers, policy makers, operators and industry leaders in the broad ecological chain. MWC Shanghai has also grown into a three-day international exhibition and attracted executives and partners from industries and a wide range of vertical industries.
