CNN: Huawei may not be able to supply 5G equipment early next year

According to CNN, the United States increased its sanctions against Huawei in May this year, requiring semiconductor manufacturers that use U.S.-made equipment or design based on U.S. software and technology to obtain a U.S. license before they can supply Huawei. The new sanctions restrict companies such as TSMC from exporting computer chips and other key components to Huawei.

Analysts believe that Huawei will not be able to supply 5G equipment early next year.

Analysts from Jefferies pointed out that Huawei cannot build 5G base stations and other equipment without these chips.

Carisa Nietsche, a researcher at the Center for a New American Security, a think tank in Washington, said many European countries and mobile operators are concerned that Huawei cannot supply 5G equipment as promised because of new US export controls on "their business." Caused a huge blow".

Jefferies analyst Edison Lee recently told investors: "According to the current U.S. direct export regulations, I really think that Huawei's 5G equipment business is very dangerous. ...If the law is not changed, I think Huawei will no longer start early next year. The risk of being able to supply 5G equipment is great."

When a Huawei spokesperson commented on the CNN report, there was no further explanation other than “we continue to receive customer support”.
